Transport News
Daniel Jones has contacted Lindsay Dougan from SSE who looks after the Sustainable Developments Fund which awarded our Transport Grant.

She was very complimentary about the work we have carried out so far and was happy with our proposal to use the full grant across the full project and not just to purchase the vehicle itself. Full information is available on the CEDAR Website.
Hall Management News

The Hall Management group will be issuing a Community Consultation Paper to allow us to access some of the ring-fenced monies available.
This will cover the request to close the gap in the feasibility fund, a view on the Crawford/NHS Clinic, and money for a part-time Community
Action Officer for the next two years.
Again, full information can be found on the CEDAR Website. A copy will be posted through everyones door which you can fill in and return to the Village Hall by Friday 21st March.

Vacancies
We still have vacancies for Trustees (open to everyone interested in becoming more involved), please contact Daniel Jones (Chair) or Morag Ritchie (Secretary) for more information.
IT Help

As a benefit to the community, a monthly computer and IT session is being run at the Crawford Village Hall one Saturday of the month. This session is available for people to come along and ask me, Steve Ritchie, to assist with any issues they may have with computers and IT equipment (including games consoles, tablets and mobile phone issues). The sessions run for 2 hours as a drop-in format. I will also be offering home visits, should particular issues take longer than the session time. Currently I am open to suggestions as to whether regular formal teaching sessions on various Information Technology subjects would be of interest to the community. No confirmed date has been set for which Saturday of the month the sessions will run but notifications will be available on Crawford and Elvanfoot noticeboards – the Facebook group. For the last two months a session for help with computer and IT problems has been run successfully with several members of the community coming along for help.
Citizens Advice Sessions – March

Please note there will be no CAB session this month.
Sessions will resume in April.
Defibrillator Training
If anyone is interested in learning to use the defibrillator, please contact any of the Trustees.

Lowther and District’s Men’s Shed Open Day for Crawford, Elvanfoot and Daer March 14th 2026
Our facilities offer a space for men to meet, socialise, join in, learn new
activities and interests (or refresh old ones) and to bring along anything you
have to share.
We have a well-equipped workshop set up for woodwork but we welcome new activities too!

Whilst a main aim of the Men’s Shed is to combat the isolation that men can feel when not in traditional employment, the Shed also actively encourages women and young people to make use of the facilities for their projects too.
For the less experienced it is an opportunity to learn about the safe and effective use of our tools and machinery.
Come along, see and experience the facilities. We look forward to seeing you at the Open Day for Crawford, Elvanfoot and Daer on 14th March 2026! We will be delighted should you then decide to make more regular visits
Light refreshments will be available!
Spike Aware UK

For a number of years now, Elvanfoot charity Spike Aware have had the pleasure of working with pupils from various schools in the YPI programme. Pupils work with us, learn what we do and then create a presentation based on what they have learned.
Having reached the finals on numerous occasions, it was so pleasant to see our representatives awarded the top prize recently at Biggar High School. A school that takes the dangers of spiking very seriously.

Well done Erin, Charlotte, Emily and Eshani. Eshani herself is a local from
Crawford. Thank you to the group for selecting us as their charity.
Well done to the pupils taking part. The presentations were of an excellent
standard, leaving the judges with a very difficult decision to make.
Spike Aware works with communities across the UK and more information
can be found at http://www.spikeawareuk.org, Facebook or drop into our office at
The Old Schoolhouse in Abington. More information on the YPI Project can be found at http://www.ypiscotland.org.uk.
