Community Consultation
Your Community. Your Assets.
Your Decision.
CEDAR was formed to protect and strengthen important local assets for Crawford and Elvanfoot.
We are now seeking community feedback on three key proposals that will shape the future of our village facilities and long-term sustainability.
This is not a decision already made.
We want to hear from you.
Closing the Funding Gap – Village Hall Feasibility Study
CEDAR has secured £10,000 funding towards a full
professional feasibility study for the village hall.
This study will assess:
- Structural condition
- Upgrade requirements
- Energy efficiency improvements
- Long-term running costs
- Options for future development
- Financial sustainability

However, there is currently a £13,420 shortfall to fully fund the study.
We are consulting on whether the community supports CEDAR seeking additional funding to close this gap.
Without a full feasibility study, we cannot move forward confidently with Community Asset Transfer or long-term investment.
Should Crawford Clinic Be Included?
During early discussions, the question has been raised:
Should Crawford Clinic be included within the scope of the feasibility study?
Including the Clinic would allow us to:
- Assess its condition and future viability
- Explore opportunities for shared services or efficiencies
- Consider long-term sustainability of both assets together
This would not commit the community to any immediate change — it would simply give us the information needed to make informed decisions.
We are asking whether you believe the Clinic should be included in the study scope.

Community Action Officer – 2 Year Proposal (£30,000 approx.)
CEDAR is exploring funding of approximately £30,000 to employ a part-time Community Action Officer for two years. The £30,000 will be added to £20,000 already available from the pot allocated to the previous community action officer giving a total funding pot of £50,000.
The role would focus on:
- Supporting volunteers
- Developing funding applications
- Coordinating community projects
- Increasing hall usage and income
- Building partnerships
- Driving long-term sustainability
The community has previously seen the positive impact a Community Action Officer can have. This proposal would provide structured support over a defined two-year period to help deliver key projects and strengthen our community.
We are consulting on whether the community supports CEDAR pursuing this funding.
Funding Source
If supported, funding for these proposals would be sought from the Crawford & Elvanfoot Ring Fenced Community Fund, provided annually by SSE specifically for the benefit of our local area.
This funding is separate from the SSE main fund and SSE Renewable Energy Fund.
We are consulting to understand whether the community believes these are appropriate uses of that ring-fenced funding.
