CEDAR (Crawford, Elvanfoot and Dear Action Resource) serves the people of Crawford, Elvanfoot & Daer Community Council area and anyone with a vested interest in the area. Everyone who is covered by this description is a Stakeholder. All Stakeholders over the age of 16 are eligible to take up different levels of membership within CEDAR. This paper seeks to describe the different levels of membership and the process for moving from level to level.

All stakeholders over the age of 16 can move to Ordinary Membership by submitting a written request to become a member of CEDAR to the Secretary of CEDAR. The request must contain the full name and address of the individual, the date of application and give consent for this information to be held on the CEDAR Register of Members. This application will be considered and endorsed at the first General Meeting of CEDAR following the receipt of the application. In exceptional circumstances, an application may be considered and endorsed prior to the meeting, by a group involving at least 1 Elected Charity Trustee and 2 additional Trustees.

Ordinary Members who wish to take on additional responsibility within CEDAR may apply to be Charity Trustees. This will require the submission of a signed declaration as required by OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator). The ideal number of Charity Trustees for an organisation of the size and scope of CEDAR is between 10 and 14. Once 14 Charity Trustees have been confirmed, no new Charity Trustees will be appointed, unless exceptional circumstances prevail. If the number drops below 14 an invitation will be extended to all Ordinary Members to apply to become a Charity Trustee. All applications will be considered at the first General Meeting of CEDAR following the advertised closing date. In exceptional circumstances, an application may be considered and endorsed prior to the meeting, by a group involving at least 2 Elected Charity Trustees and 1 additional Trustee.

A Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary will be elected from the Membership as Elected Charity Trustees. All Ordinary Members, including Charity Trustees, are eligible to vote.
